Early evening on the Highveld. There’s a comfy chair on the stoep but you’ll be dancing soon. The braai’s still hot; taxi buses hoot; the night is still ahead. It won’t be long before summer comes again but before then, there’s this. Bubblegum classics, melancholic disco, rolling funk, punk you can dance to and Queen Brenda Fassie. As the moon rises, Letta Mbula dazzles, Penny Penny jumps to the 90s, and the pace picks up again. More tasty than a Gatsby, cooler than a Castle, proof enough that through Mzansi run thick seams of gold.
