Hey, Justin...I'm Cal's husband. Great mixes and wonderful quote about music feeling like touching God. That's why I've spent my life enjoying, sharing, playing and writing music as a "professional" musician. Also, important to talk about and share or responses to horrors like what happened in Orlando. Writing my own choral piece about that.
Thank's Don. I do know who you are and thank you for the compliment about what I wrote concerning my view of what music is all about. I wrote that a couple of years ago. I was going through a period of some loss and disconnect with someone I cared about a great deal. Every time I was low I found that if I would allow it, music always came in and helped heal that pain. I remember thinking and still do when I am lost in music how the feeling is so unique, and sometimes difficult to describe. Much like an emotion, words don't ever really seem to capture what the different feelings are all about. Combine that all together and I knew if ever there was a language God would use to talk to us, it would have to be music. It is a gift. The mix on here called Remember is how I used music to help me deal with the tragedy in Orlando. I did not know any of the people that were lost, but I feel like I did in a way, and it overwhelms at times when I think about their ordeal. I have felt guilt for not being more connected at the same time still wondering how and why stuff is allowed to happen like that. Again, though listening to what others have to say about it all through music especially helps me as I know it does others. I l look forward to hearing your art on the subject.
