As my first Cloudcast, I'm submitting a mix from 2007. This mix was done entirely in Ableton Live as an experiment into the viability of Live as a DJ and live mashup medium as opposed to a production environment. Pay attention to tracks 6-8 for a special treat that would be extremely difficult to do as cleanly on turntables.
In a competition on djforums.com, not one respondent noticed how weird the mixing was in this set: it was created without the use of EQs or track levels other than gain adjustments. This mixing style shows the importance of phrase-matching as an essential DJ skill.
In addition, this mix may be one of the first examples of early psybreaks, a genre that did not come into its own until 2010 and–in my humble opinion–is the best thing to come out of the international rave scene in years.
