Hi everybody,

Jumpin' JK Homan here. I hope you're all keeping well, and I hope 2026 has being kind to you so far. This year has been a real drag for me personally, between sickness and loss and this, that and the other, but I'm hoping things will get easier over the next while.

I'm writing to you all today to announce that the show will be taking a break for the foreseeable future. My health has not been great recently, and in the simplest words, I feel that I cannot give the show the full care and attention it deserves without first giving care and attention to myself. As much as I love doing this show, and I really do, it is a lot of effort for one person to undertake (especially when you're trying to do it while burdened with disabilities and long covid-related health issues), and given that I have been doing this show for five years almost non-stop unpaid and in my own spare time, I feel that the constant strain has finally caught up with me. It's not something that is unsolveable or unfixable, it just requires me to step away from the grind for a little while.

I want to stress however that this is NOT goodbye. This is unfinished business. The Beatles have only just arrived, a new era of pop is beginning and the story is only just starting to be told. I will be coming back here to continue this story at some point. When that is, I cannot say yet. Could be a few weeks, could be a few months. However long it takes, I don't want to give this show anything less than my all, and I feel like I need to listen to the signs the universe is sending me to step back and take the foot off the gas for a little while.

(One positive of this break is I'll be able to prep many shows in advance, which means I won't quite have to plan on the fly like I have been doing recently. You would not BELIEVE the amount of spreadsheets that are used to make this show, and how frequently they all have to be updated!)

That's all for the moment. There's five years' worth of shows to revisit while I'm gone, and hopefully when I get back we can return to chronicling the greatest decade in music history together. Until then, stay safe, stay well and thank you for always sticking with me along the way.

See you all soon,
Jumpin' JK Homan

This has been John Garbert writing. I’ve had to use a different iPad to write this due to problems with my original one and it’s got a different name on it. Take care once again bye for now.

Hi to you I have been wondering if you were okay over the last few days and I thought I better send a message. I’ve just seen what you’ve written, and I wish you well and I hope you get better soon. The main thing is for now look after yourself and please take care and God willing you will be back on your feet again at some point. I am really sorry you’ve been going through so much thinking about you at this time and please look after yourself. Bye for now

It would make it easier on you if you didn't do Chartbusters show. The top 40 has the breakers and debuts and bubbling unders.

Taking care of family and yourself is the most important thing one can do. Were not going anywhere and will be here when you come back. Take care. Gary

Hi JK, I feel could have almost written a similar post to be honest and I agree with everything you've posted here. I feel for you. When folk occasionally as they do, get just a tad critical, I think they seem to forget folk like us do this on our own, generally without point of delivery help, all for the love of the music, without pay, and try to make it sound as slick and professional as we can while fitting it all into "life". Long Covid is the biggest drag ever and it is wholly, what's the best way to put it ...... annoying. Enjoy your break away, come back stronger, you'll be all the better for it. Regards and all very best. Gus.
