Mix for Elle

This mix was requested by Andy (Elle's husband), but he wanted it to be made for Elle. With Elle in mind, certain aspects of her personality and tastes guided my choices for this mix. My choices are of music that leaves musicians nowhere to hide. There's a raw honesty and vulnerability about the musical presentation of these tracks that very much reminds me of Elle, who will never go out of her way to present a more polished version of herself. The world is better because of it.

Two particular selections relate to Elle's touching choice to listen to my own solo acoustic guitar recordings while giving birth to her daughter Eve (!). Michael Hedges and Pierre Bensusan are both huge influences of mine, and of each other. Before Hedges died in a car accident, he had written a beautiful piece named "Bensusan". After his death, Bensusan reciprocated with "So Long, Michael". Both are wonderful, poignant pieces.
