Weird World

For this mix, I participated in an international mixtape exchange. The theme was "weird world." I took literal inspiration from the theme and built the track list with music from around the globe. Some of the songs and/or artists could be considered “out there” or outside the mainstream, while some definitely feel like they’re from another universe. You’ll find things like Arabic reggae, Swiss punk, Japanese cosmic new wave, Ethiopian funk and Italian.

While the sounds contained within come from various countries with different cultures and norms, it all works cohesively and demonstrates the power of music to communicate regardless of barriers - spoken, physical, or cultural.
