presenting a mix of dark, deep knockouts chosen for their dogged insistence of composition. the tics, recurrent themes, fits and starts, and only grudgingly-given-up rhythms of these selections are sometimes compositional (see the chokehold dronescapes of Murcof, Paul Jebanasam, or Lussuria), other times related to apparent compulsion in the creative process (the careful micro-craft of Fennesz and Julien Neto or the compulsively academic approaches of Daniel Menche and Gregg Kowalsky). an exercise in addiction, in the loosest and widest-ranging sense of the term.
