St. Thomas, Apostle

Today's Reading: St. John 20:24-29

"And then He said to Thomas, 'Take your finger here and see my hands and put your finger here and thrust it into my side. Be not unbelieving but believe.'" (John 20:27)

Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord! In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Thomas' name means "twin." We might consider this a bit today. Some people call him Doubting Thomas. But that's not who He is. It's worse than that! He's Unbelieving Thomas. You see, Thomas didn't just think that maybe Jesus didn't rise after all. He outright didn't believe it. He rejected Jesus' resurrection. Mary Magdalene and the Apostles told him they had seen Jesus alive. But, for Thomas, their testimony wasn't enough. What he believed, what he knew about death and life, just didn't add up with they said.
