Tina Jacob asks some of her friends about their accents' sounds and meanings.

Note: The ‘Speak Good English’ campaign referenced in the interview refers to government efforts in Singapore to encourage people to speak in Standard English, instead of the local pidgin slang 'Singlish' which combines ethnic languages of Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien, Malay and Tamil with English. Some argue that this movement valorizes colonial notions of ‘good’ or ‘standard’ English over culturally authentic English spoken in the country.
