'Flipside' book launch, CT (w/ Premesh Lalu)

Audio recording of book launch discussion between Premesh Lalu (UWC) and Kim Gurney (author), held at AVA Gallery on 9 March 2024. 'Flipside: The Inadvertent Archive' (iwalewabooks - Johannesburg & Lagos) follows the trail of selected archival artefacts stashed in the AVA's attic and weaves them together in a thematic storyline, structured according to the rooms of the former house in which AVA resides. Its architectural plans are one of the many archival documents used by the author as source material. The narrative is polyvocal, interrupting the author's voice with artist statements, opening speeches, images of artworks, minutes of meetings, newspaper clippings, and other samples from the stacks. The book is edited by Karen Press (Cape Town) & iwalewabooks, and is designed by Karl-Heinz Best (Frankfurt).
