Gorgeous melancholy.
Last night I went outside briefly at dusk and things were just… off. It was unseasonably hot and humid, and absolutely still. The sun was setting so the sky had hints of blue and pink, but also lots of gray clouds, and everything bled together into something unreal. It was beautiful and unsettling and quiet, and I thought to myself, ‘this feels like a calm apocalypse’. That atmosphere only lasted a few minutes, but it got under my skin. Listening to this mix today gives me the same feeling, something clear and lovely but melancholy and scrabbling for hope… I’d like to be hopeful about the new year, but I worry about that calm apocalypse on the horizon.

You pretty much nailed it, that unsettled feeling. For the last week, I’ve felt very untethered and uncertain about so many things. I guess the alchemy when I was putting this one together was more tangible than I thought. Thank you, as always, for listening and saying the kind and supportive things that keep me going.
