Oldschool tracks, oldschool analog mixing. Equipment: two Technics Mk1200, a rather worn out Numark 3002 X. Recorded early 2003 via [email protected] Live, mp3-codec: lame.
I've been able to reconstruct the playlist almost completely. I still need help identifying Tracks 1 & 14. Track 1 was released on one of Bonzai's 12 bazillion labels, that's all I can remember. Track 14 (minute 58) should be a remix by a guy with a japanese sounding name. Haruki or smth. like that. Any help is [email protected]
Concerning the mix: I usually try to merge several styles into a unique soundscape that is still homogeneous and coherent. I also support the idea that a mix should have smth. like an arc of suspense, i.e. a regular change of pace. I dislike mixes that keep punching you in the face all the time or just string countless hits together. I try to avoid such behaviour while mixing. Although I don't stick to these ideas intentional, but rather on a subconscious, "natural" level.
