Matthew Bailey, Carl Schilde & Scott Harper play improvised music oscillating somewhere between
bingo hall Casio suites and kosmische dreamscapes. The trio perform under the name Playdate,
and are sometimes accompanied by 90s instructional videos, larger than life amateur dancers, and
dollar store light shows.
No warm-ups, no practice sessions. Each show the members will
bring a strange instrument, a new concept or simply a fascinating sound with the goal of surprising
each other live on-air. happening simultaneously. Between performances Playdate will bring listeners into an imaginary
green room and talk about the happy accidents. In the future, the show will also include special
guests from the Toronto music scene.
Playdate’s debut album “Manitoulin Tapes” was released on Séance Centre in 2019. Their follow-up album
“Wonderland” is scheduled to be released in 2023.
