The Long Walk

I came across an old road

it stretched for miles

all thoughts left my mind

I started by placing one foot in front of the other

each step fulfilling its own destiny

ridden of all burdens I carried on

a journey I didn't want to end

no person in sight or sound

only the call of a buzzard up above

the sense of freedom was as pure as a mountain spring
