Hey this is Matt, Rain's friend from NZ (sound engineer). She said you'd be interested in some comments: * Mixing-wise, can't really fault it - sounds good. Overall compression/limiting is more than I would personally go for - I prefer more dynamics :) I also think it'd serve the music more to allow a greater dynamic range in this case. I think it's robbing the music of a lot of emotional potential.
* Composition-wise, I like it - it's fairly mellow, ambient, without any highs or lows - that may be what you want some of the time - would also be interested in seeing a piece with a definitive overall emotional arc, or 'sound-story' - a beginning, middle and end. You know what I mean? But there's nothing wrong with ambient.
* Production-wise - it's hard for me to comment on this as I don't actually know what your production process is and whether you're using samples/loops or mostly composing your own sequences. If it's your own sequences, I think it's good. The piano and effected-piano at 9 minutes onwards is nice. It'd be nice to hear that with less compression, so there's a bit more space in the mix. I like the weirdness at 13:00 onwards as well. Very distinctive.
There's a lot of variance in this mix, and a few different pieces. I would recommend putting the individual pieces up on soundcloud, so you can get a feel for what folks think of different tracks/styles, and maybe let that guide you in terms of what's most popular?
