Freedom and Constraint

Freedom can evoke many other words like life, living, power, butterfly, heart, love, passion, lyrical, happiness (insert your own words!). Constraints can evoke other words like shut down, limitations, lockdown, involuntary and more positive words like boundaries, structure, form, respect, responsibility. Either too much freedom or constraint can be overwhelming and challenging. Sometimes, constraints are actually necessary and quite valuable to find freedom. In the 5Rhythms, we dance staccato before chaos, structure before release and surrender. This is an example of the way that sometimes, constraints and boundaries can give way to positive experiences of freedom. We need both in our lives.
