Dataist is the moniker for DJ and producer Steeve Bjornson. His productions range from house-inspired upbeat jammers to bass music adjacent beats. For DJing, his current focus is on music that makes you go: Ooh woah. He primarily releases on his label: Half Past Vibe (co-founded with friend James Gray—aka Wax Mathews).
In addition to his dance music output, he is currently collaborating on a composition with Mauro Patricelli, an Italian opera composer living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In his spare time he writes software to make finding dance music easier (Bandcamp Enhancement Suite), builds analog and digital audio tools, and produces visual art pieces connecting code, sound, and light.
He operates out of Victoria, BC, Canada (the traditional territories of the Lkwungen peoples)
