Multiple research studies have shown that access to art supplies and artistic programs in early childhood has far reaching benefits mentally, emotionally and academically. Increased proficiency in math, reading and cognitive development, as well as a greater capacity for higher-ordered thinking and problem solving have been reported. School districts whose students have higher levels of access to arts also have fewer reported
behavioral incidents.

THE BACKPACK ART PROGRAM'S focus
2025 - Summer Session Backpack Art Kits will be distributed to students through an art contest at Lucy Addison Middle School. These supplies are geared toward advancing art skills over the summer at home.
2027 - We will implement a teen summer program and offer art (visual and performance) combined with literacy.
