MOOD #6

I was so inspired by the photos in and on the cover of ESSENCE Magazine of Jessica Betts & Neicy Nash that I decided to do a mix. In my lifetime I would have never guessed how far LGBT people would become part of the culture and conversation. The idea that this magazine for black women has a lesbian couple on the cover is simply amazing! So, I thought about the black gay struggle to navigate a public life with a partner then imagined that as a celebrity. This is bold new territory.
