At some point in the process of putting together all these mixes, I missed a number. At the time of this upload, there are actually 12 Back to Basics mixes, even though the newest one was labeled 11. Technically, this is 6, however, 7 ended up being called 6, and everything after that was off by 1, so here, instead, is Back to Basics Vol. 5.5, recorded in March of 2010. Nothing stands out here...same feel as the other mixes.
There's also an audio dropout around 27 minutes in, but this is the only copy of this mix I have at this point, so that'll just have to do.
The Back to Basics mix series is designed to give listeners a taste of what they'd hear if they caught me at prime time in the club. An open format mix utilizing wordplay, toneplay and scratching, to create a cohesive, unique experience.
