Parent Rock

In geology, a 'parent rock' is what you'd call the original rocks that sedimentary & metamorphic rocks are made from. Like granite is the 'parent rock' of gneiss. Igneous rock comes from volcano juice, so they don't have parent rocks. Everyone is always talking about 'Dad Rock' but what about 'Mom Rock'? This is a genre that fluctuates with generations.
