Elisa Lam was a young Canadian tourist headed towards Santa Cruz in late January 2013, but somehow she wound up at the notorious Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles near Skid Row. A security camera caught Elisa on January 31 hiding in a hotel elevator, looking agitated. It was the last time anyone ever saw Elisa alive.
When Elisa's body was finally discovered the next month, she was located on the roof of the Cecil Hotel, hidden inside one of the hotel's water cisterns. For as many as 19 days, Elisa's decomposing remains flowed through the hotel plumbing, meaning that the guests and staff of the hotel washed their hands in her, showered in her, drank her.
At the time this cloudcast was posted, the cause of Elisa's death has not yet been determined. But one thing is for certain - while passing through the City of Angels, Elisa stumbled upon a nest of vipers. She never deserved this fate.
