Slow Burners

I made this mix 7 or 8 years ago for a friend who was traveling around Australia for 4 months in his Kombi van. The idea was to use songs he was not overly familiar with, by artist he may have been familiar with. I really wanted the mix to be the kind of mix that you grow to like, not something that was instantly likable yet not challenging enough to warrant repeat listens.

My normal mix style is to press record and then think about what to play as I am playing it, but for this mix I really wanted to take an entirely different approach. I layered the transitions so it was hard to work out where one track ended and another started (even if you were familiar with the song). I added a lot of little nuances that I hoped people would only notice after many listens. I also edited every single track to get out of it what I wanted for the mix.

In the end I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as he did!
