Medicine has largely usurped our involvement in dying. Therefore the church typically ignores dying, not on theological grounds necessarily but rather because (1) technology postpones it (2) culture removes it from view, and (3) the focus is diverted elsewhere by not talking about the realities of it. Combine medical denial with the churches simplistic pandering to a softhearted and soft-headed universalism that places an easy judgment on every soul as it ushers them to a heaven that is simply "in a better place" and we are left with a HUGE problem at the end of our life. Join us as we use the film Nebraska to ask some really hard questions of the church. Like, how is someone who is alive in Christ able to die well and what is our responsibility in life, to lead others to hope in death?
