04 1986
This week, we explore the sounds of 1986 A.D.! It's the year I became conscious enough to notice (& take delight in) pop music &, as a result, a bit idiosyncratic: there are plenty of on-brand punk poets, metal warriors, indie rock flag-planters, & early hip-hop heads, but also a few deathless pop hits to satisfy my three-year-old sweet tooth. Call it college/urban radio dusted with Top 40 - perfect for a year when R.E.M., Madonna, & Run DMC brought Finster, fishnets, & fedoras to the Billboard charts.
