Get Funky

In between a bunch of Kool & the gang classics, side A seems to be a random collection of what was dubbed "Rare Funk" in the early-to-mid nineties.

Side B is vastly more interesting… the first part is probably the only trace left of a live mix by DJ Aldo (of Pure Records fame) on Radio Nova. THIS very mix, has been a turning point for me, my bank account and my shelves. I HAD to identify those tracks and get those records, no matter what! It started a decade-long hunt for Rare Grooves from spanish flee markets to the japanese confidential shops.

Then comes the incredibly bouncy "Police", by Human Spirit, "Penso Positivo", by Jovanotti, "Spirit Fall", by Pressure Drop. Then, between another K & TG and a beautiful Gwen McCrae, comes a true gold nugget: a live session by Rootsneg, a short-lived french rap group that was clearly too advanced for its time.
