Remembering George

The Fire Island Pines post master and a beloved friend to many, George is a beautiful, kind and generous spirit.
Although he passed 5 years ago his spirit is still very present.
George invited so many into his home that we all shared through unforgettable summers at the beach.
He and I would often speak of the standards, the beginnings of disco and country music.
As an overly confident 20 something I’d think I was teaching him something and in his kind, southern gentleman manor he’d correct me. I learned so much from him.
Once he passed his absence was felt at the house of sky, on the island of fire and in the world. The weekend after he passed I spent hours going through his music (all stored in the living room cabinet) and created this mix in his memory.
This was played at his memorial at Sip In Twirl , one of his favorite venues.
This is his birthday month and I want to put this out to the universe.
George thank you for the friendship. You are remembered forever.
