There are many limbs and trees broken down in the woods. The storms and floods have made the point that there are times when pruning *will* occur. When, under changing pressures, anything unsustainable will cease being sustained. Many trees survive this kind of breakdown because they've pulled their sap into their trunks. They've let go of the peripheral and the passé. They've focussed their energies on the centre and in the ground - now - where the essential, the viable, and the non-negotiable can be nurtured.
