CBG Show #03

Welcome (back) to the wild world of Cigar Box Guitar music. Definitely and niche genre on it's lonesome. I thought it was dying after gaining some interest (thank you Shane Speal) in the 2000's. I was wrong however, it's seems to have been assimilated into the broader blues vocabulary as a alternative instrument for artists. It also slots in with the "Dirty" Blues genre or what Sam Phillips used to call "gut-bucket" when he recorded the Howlin' Wolf and his band in the very early 50's but that's just MHO. That said, it's all over the place, messy, amateur and to me, wonderful. It's performed in open key mostly, very accessible if you want to learn a new thing! There's a lot of non CBG here too that hopefully fits the vibe. Enjoy!
