Cadence Benoit (SheedyJaye)

St. Louis, United States

Music producer, fiction writer, visual artist, miniature deity.

Music has been my main interest since I got my first keyboard at age 12. I switched to guitar at age 21, and primarily to computers a few years later. My main musical focus now is on vocal electronic rock/pop music as Katie (soon to be Cadence) Benoit, but I also release instrumental electronic stuff as SheedyJaye. I have also created as part of 69 Susans, as DJ Jynx (USA), DJ K8T, equals the RAVEN, Kirsten Blame, and Katie Turner.

These are where my DJ sets and remixes live at. I don't put out a lot here, but what I do release are blood, sweat and tears that make up a different part of my life than my main creative personas.

I posted the first of my archives of DJ mixes. For years, I've privately created them for my own listening, but realized that they would work really well here on MixCloud. Some of them I may have to recreate as the quality I'm okay listening to may not be "professional" quality, but I'm okay with a little re-invention, if nothing else.

The first of the archival ones is my DJ Mix of Jonathan Peters remixes. He was mostly active between 1995 and 2011, with a crescendo around the turn of the "millennium." Some of his work fit neatly in the "house" vein of remix that was popular at the time. Other tracks were a little more experimental in composition, but were still adjacent to his more mainstream mixes.

This DJ Mix is about 80 minutes long, which tends to be my target goal as I was originally burning these to CDr's back in the day.

There will be more DJ mixes to come from my archives, as well as newer ones I've done and other sonic experiments that don't fit in as neat of a label as the rest of my work.

Take care, y'all!
Cadence
