I haven't been listening to music over the last few weeks, so this mix is partly a collection of earworms that kept circulating. It's also an excuse to spend more time with the recent Elemental Mixes of King Crimson's "Lizard" album, whose eccentric beauty stayed with me since first hearing it close to 50 years ago.
From there, the set drifts through ambient music, experimental jazz, electronic abstraction, and songcraft. Laurie Anderson's expansive storytelling gives way to Laura Misch's spacious meditation; Felicia Atkinson, Carmen Villain, Malibu, and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe explore different shades of memory and atmosphere. Threadgill, Iyer, Prieto, Pagtricia Brennan, and Sylvie Courvoisier bring improvisation, while Autechre's "Nine" briefly opens a door to another logic altogether. Along the way are selections from Resavoir, Tycho, Casia Gawlik, and Jessica Pratt.
