A mix that starts with DC's own Mary Timony, takes off with Ches Smith and then spins along for an hour. Highlights: a new release from Kali Malone (I got the notice just as I started making this mix), Robert Poss (Band of Susans) comes through with a nice collection, too. There's an excerpt from Kory Reeder's Sawyer Editions release "Illuminations" by Matt Sargent. I just read Sasha Frere-Jones' excellent book "Earlier" so it took me back to his band, Ui and their inspired & spacious long slow sound. Jules Reidy's new album "Traces" is excellent-- I took a dive into that one, too. A Ravel piano interpretaion by Bruce Liu as well as some varied selects by Hania Rani & Clare Deak, live music from Anne Bakker and zake adds some soft cushion.
