BTTB 2002-06 // Tommy Koi of Beyond There and Mr. Bongo // XL-038

You might know Tommy Koi as one of the guys behind the counter at Mr. Bongo Record Store in Poland Street. He also was part of the trio Beyond There together with Huw and Kam (both had worked at Mr. Bongo, too). Tommy himself started dj'ing in the late 80s. In the early 90s he produced some tunes with DJ Prone, then as "Positive Step" with MC Murder and DJ Kam, and after that Kam and Tommy met Huw to form "Beyond There". They released some Britcore Rap Tracks plus two tunes for the Turntablism-Compilations "Return of the DJ Vol II" and "Deep Concentration". In November 1998 they recorded a first X-Session for BTTB, and also produced some Intros for BTTB. In June 2002 Tommy came to Hamburg to visit some relatives in Buxtehude, so I invited him to come into the studio and also to play at a club called Komet. (Hamburg, Gerhardstraße).
