BTTB X-161: MONOXIDE // Brighton.

One of my favourite mixes. You might know Monoxide from their Afternoon Tea Breaks: A DJ Battle Break, a combination of hard-hitting beats and breaks, interspersed with samples to play/destroy. It pays tribute to the classic moments of (mostly American) HipHop, but also brings a touch of English eccentricity and humour to the party. Monoxide are:

Katy Brown: Beats, scratching, spoofs and skits. Highly strung. Aries.
Dan Tuf: Super-nice turntablist and producer. Highly laid back. Libra.
R Kid: Veteran of the Manchester HipHop Scene. Nasty MC. Beatmaker. Pisces.
Jasey Jas: World famous illustrator: Judge Dredd, The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan. Libra.

Other affiliates include graffiti writer Nylon STP and artists Jim Murray and Steve Sampson.

The Monoxide BTTB-X-Session is an hour long throwdown of some favourite tracks, with some Tea Breaks, some turntablism, lyrics, and abstract nonsense thrown in for good measure.
