Throughout his career, D’Angelo was known for being an intensely private artist who rarely granted interviews. Watching some of those early conversations, it’s easy to see why it wasn’t his cup of tea. Yet, when he felt comfortable enough to open up, his full personality would shine through. Those moments reveal fascinating glimpses into his life, his creative process, and his deep passion for music.

I’ve put together a small compilation of the most compelling interviews I’ve come across, mostly from the Black Messiah era, when he was finally able to reflect on his journey and the legacy of his work. I hope you find them as captivating and insightful as I did.
