Some of these tracks appeared on malcolm mclarens legendary AMI Juke box in his shop "let it rock" & "Sex" at 430 kings road, Chelsea circa 74-76.I first heared these songs on Marco Pirroni's brilliant compilation "Sex" in 2003 .
I first encountered Rock n Roll during the revival in the mid 70's, hanging outside the Black Raven Pub, with the Teddy Boys/ Girls in broadgate EC2 on my way to petticoate market on sunday mornings .I must say I was never a Teddy Boy.
Garage Punk was a American reaction to the British invasion in the mid sixties. The garage bit come from the fact most of the bands rehearsed in the family garage . A lot of these songs can be heared on Lenny Kay's seminal Album "Nuggets" Original artyfacts from the psychedelic era 65 - 68 Released in 1972. This was around the time of the Glam Rock explosion started in England with bands such as Roxy Music ,David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars and Marc Bolan's T.Rex seminal performance of Hot Love on Top of the pops in 1971
