When you buy 23 y.o. old used car, you have to expect that you will spend more than half the price of the car extra in repairs in the following years. When I was inspecting my (in that time future) Audi A4 B5, I was looking rather into engine itself and the level of rust than on the overall state of the brake system. Reason is simple: I know I can change pads, rotors, sensors on the wheel myself (=cheaply), but I am no expert on 1.8T AJL cooling and vacuum systems (hoses) and these are known to be faulty as they are made of plastic or rubber - that damn near sounds like expensive mechanic's garage visit, because there is more space to fuck something up. So when my rear right brake caliper got stuck with handbrake still on, I decided to go ahead and do a full rear braking system rework that had to be done anyway since the rotor had a lip and pads were uneven and overally shitty.
Mix aint flawless, emergency loop here and there, but a very solid start imo and the random Joja double!
