From Nottingham to the World: How Swing Dash Grew With Host Tagging

Swing Dash Radio puts their Hosts at the forefront of their brand. Here’s how Host Tagging helped them thrive.

Swing Dash

A study from last month showed that Millennials and Gen Z are more likely to give their time and attention to creator-led brands rather than traditional faceless organisations. The same logic applies to us as DJs.

Host Tagging is Mixcloud’s answer to putting faces at the forefront of your profile to connect with the generation that wants to know the people they’re listening to. In this article, we hear about one of the many successes of Host Tagging, Swing Dash, and how the feature has supercharged its journey.

Upswing

Swing Dash is a UK-based station formed in 2023, self-dubbed as the ‘world’s first social radio.’ Through a combination of 24 hour self-serve studio booths, webcams, a Mixcloud Pro subscription and hope in the next generation of DJs, they’ve created a positive environment for Nottingham’s next wave of DJs to begin their broadcasting journey.

The station goes live from its booths on Mixcloud every evening and gets a decent following. However, since Host Tagging launched, their 33 hosts have seen playback statistics show growth in engagement:

  1. Listeners now tune in for ~40% longer
  2. Reposts are up by 72%
  3. Favourites jumped a hearty 178%

Host Tagging connects music lovers to the right DJs

Tagging Hosts instantly notifies the DJs Mixcloud followers, even if they don’t follow the station. By tapping into this, we’re seeing stations connect with the right fans, who listen for longer. This leads to greater chart positions, which leads to finding even more of the right listeners.
