Victims of crimes, including those alleging rape, are to be asked to hand their phones over to police - or risk prosecutions not going ahead. Liam Allan, whose trial for rape collapsed when it emerged texts had not been disclosed, says it is a "good step. However Harriet Wistrich from the Centre for Women's Justice says allowing police access to alleged rape victims' mobile phone data is "disproportionate" and a "huge intrusion into privacy".
