Beyond

Being interested in the ability of music to help to reach altered states of consciousness since a long time I put together a set of ecstatic music from North- and Westafrica. Some of the music is actually played in a ritualistic / spiritual context, the other tracks just contain this "special quality" I would call ecstatic.

I only used music that was recorded with the intention to put it on CD or other media and make it widely accessible. As I know from my own experience the same music played in the original context can be much more intense…

There's a lot to say about the selected tracks and the musicians (some of them I know personally and with some I even had the honor to play together) but I will keep it short: turn up the volume and enjoy!
