To celebrate the closing of the year/decade, I'm posting a mix I made this past October in honor of my boyfriend's 30th birthday. I wanted to make a mix wherein I selected a song that reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club charts for every year of his life, starting with the track that was #1 on the day of his birth. (Janet's "Miss You Much.") The only other rule I laid down was: one track per artist, no repeats-- which lead to some real Sophie's Choices. (And a little fudging.) Thirty years, thirty tracks, thirty artists, all #1s. (Because I'm shit at math, it was only halfway through compiling this that I realized I was dealing with 31 tracks... but 30x30 is such a better name/concept.)
