This week’s Arbiter of the Week is a bit of a curveball. Previously all the Arbiters have been artists or bands, but this week I bring you a label. Specifically my favourite label: 4AD.
I adore 90% of the records they put out, several of my absolute favouritest ever bands are signed to them, and they have a rich musical heritage that informs my view that they are by far the biggest and most influential of any Indie Record Label anywehre, an opinion made into unquestionable fact particularly when they formulate into the Record Industry Megazord that is Beggars Group alongside XL, Rough Trade and Matador.
