Marcus "DJ Marcus T" Thompson is one of the founding members of Timex Social Club. If Timex Social Club does not spark your memory, then I know you are familiar with the chart busting 'Rumors'.

Rumors hit the airwaves in April of 1986 and was first shunned by Urban Radio due to it's brash sound and the fact that it was on an independent black owned record labled: Jay Records . Since the group hailed from the Oakland/San Francisco Bay area, they promoted it highly in their hometown and hoped that the local Urban stations would play their hit, none did.

By May of 1986, a young program director named Terry Avery of KKDA 104FM in Dallas Fort Worth heard RUMORS and added it to the stations playlist and it caught fire! Other Urban Radio stations across the country took notice and followed suit by adding RUMORS as well.
