There was a gap in my soundtrack selection, so last year I starting really thinking about what soundtracks I do & don't like.
I have always been a big fan of John Carpenter's soundtracks, so the logic starting place was a boutique record label called Death Waltz who were reissuing quite a lot of Carpenter and other horror soundtracks. I was particularly interested in anything synth heavy/80's sounding rather than haunting, sweeping strings...
Quite a few of the tracks on this soundscape/mix are Death Waltz or Death Waltz Originals (I think seven in total). The rest are other bits and pieces that I have picked up in the last year or so from the field of electronic music and beyond.
I recorded this onto two sides of a cassette tape and then re-recorded into a digital format. I think the static and air adds to the eerie effect that I was trying to achieve when putting this together.
