What’s so funny about this? Ever since Ernest Hemingway wrote about running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, this annual event has been covered by the media and is in the macho consciousness of men and women around the English speaking world. It’s kind of the ultimate manly thing to do, along with climbing Everest, deep-sea diving for shark, and stuff like that. It’s scary, it’s risky, you could be killed, and it’s a major rush if you succeed. It’s not really a death wish but, I have to admit that in my life I’ve done a few stupid death-defying stunts, that had I realized the true danger, I never would have done. Foremost among them was trying to swim across the Nile River in Egypt after being out in the hot sun all day.
