What’s so funny about this? There are actually two jokes going on here. The first is the actual sign, mentioned in the joke. It’s a terrific advertisement put on a Plumber’s truck. It should get a lot of laughs and hopefully bring in more business for the plumber. The first sentence describes a common problem that we all encounter at different points in our lives, a leaky faucet. If you live in an apartment building and are lucky enough to have what we Americans call a “superintendent”, “”super” for short, then fixing the leak, or drip, is the responsibility of the landlord. The super is the landlord’s agent and will come and fix your pipes. However if you own your own home then there’s no super for you to call. You either have to fix it yourself or call a plumber to fix it. But why is this a joke? It’s funny because the phrase “sleep with a drip” can also be interpreted sexually.
