WHAT A CROC

What’s so funny about this? This is the first in what is going to be several “Tom Swifty” jokes I plan to do. As a reminder, a “Tom Swifty” is a pun embedded into an adverb describing a quotation. The speaker is always a guy named Tom Swift and the pun is always a description of how Tom said what he said. So today’s joke involves an alligator who needed to be fed. Alligators are carnivores, meat eaters. Given the opportunity they will eat human flesh. In fact they have some of the sharpest teeth in the animal kingdom and can shred a hapless animal or human of any size in less than a minute. Even though they have very short legs they can move quickly on land and they are excellent swimmers. Once in a while people will try to keep one as a pet, but usually give up when the gator grows too big. There are even stories of people flushing them down toilets and the alligators ending up alive and thriving in sewer systems. BTW alligators are only found in the US. Elsewhere in the world such as
