WAISTING TIME

What’s so funny about this? The cartoon for this joke is so much clearer than the verbal version. One glance and you get it, pun and all. In fact, I had to start with the punch line, since I didn’t have the actual complete joke. I don’t even know what it is. It’s weird; I have this long list of punch lines all with some pretty good puns in them, but with no back story. I’m sure they exist only I do not possess them. Therefore I have to make up the joke as I go along. In this case, the punch line is based on the word “tock”, which by itself is meaningless. In English it represents one half of the sound a clock is supposed to make, the full sound being, “tick-tock”. In the picture we see a whole bunch of clocks lined up against a mean-looking stone wall. These clocks are making incomplete sounds however. Instead of tick-tock, they are only saying “tick”. Maybe they are just scared and have a nervous tick, or twitch. This is apparently very annoying to the Commandante of the local army. H
