What’s so funny about this? I guess they don’t get much simpler than this joke. If you understand the vocabulary then it should be self-evident. It all hinges on one word, “gravity”. This is a concept in physics that’s supposed to be the unseen force that keeps us rooted to the ground and prevents us from flying off into space - and not just us; it applies to every single thing on this planet, from people, to animals, to rocks to mountains, to rivers, to lakes, to oceans, and perhaps most importantly, to the atmosphere, the very air we breathe. It’s what gives us weight. It’s why the same item can have a different weight on earth, in space, and on the moon. Space has no gravity and so the item is weightless and is why it will float around inside a space ship. The moon is smaller than the earth and therefore has less gravity and therefore the same item will have weight only less than it has on earth. The force of gravity extends beyond the surface of earth into space. Every object in sp
