What’s so funny about this? I’ll admit this is what people call a sick joke. The elements of the situation are quite serious. There is nothing funny about someone eating a bag of quick-drying cement. But the whole situation is really kind of absurd because even if someone were to try to eat a bag of cement, there’s no way they could eat an entire bag of it. In fact, the whole situation is so ridiculous that we realize the whole thing is just a set up for a silly pun. The cartoon assists in this conspiracy. Rather than going for a realistic photo, the cartoon shows a satirical presentation of the situation.
